Dedicated Servers for hosting of your metatrader

If you are using an expert advisor it is best if you use a dedicated server to host your metatrader. The dedicated

server will not lose its connection to the internet like your home cable or dsl connection will do.  If you want

the ultimate in up time for your metatrader and your expert advisor then you need to get a dedicated server.

To get started with your own dedicated server that is tuned for use with metatrader and an expert advisor go here .  Once you get set-up  with their hosting plan you will just log-in to your server using the username and password provided to you.  After a few seconds you will be connected to the server.  You will see a desktop appear which will look just like your home computer.  Download the metatrader that is associated with your broker.  Log-in to your live account using the username and password provided to you by your broker. 

Uploading your expert advisor to your dedicated server

You will need to upload the expert advisor you are using to your server.  The way to use this is to get an FTP client such as WS_FTP which is an excellent one.  You will just need to open up the WS_FTP software and connect to the dedicated server you purchased.

To connect you will have to click on "Connection Wizard"  it will ask you to give your site a name.  Call it Metatrader 4 for example then click on next.  Now you will have to enter the IP address for your Windows 2003 server that was provided by your hosting company.  It will be a number like 208.767.909.545 for example. 

After you enter this number click  on "next" and you will now be asked for the username and password for your server.  Enter this information into the boxes and click on "next" twice and you should now be logged into your dedicated server. 

At the top left of the WS_FTP software you will see a window that says "My computer"  Click in that window and navigate over to the location of your expert advisor you want to put on the dedicated server.  Once you locate it just double-click on it and it will start uploading to your server.  This will only take about 2 seconds.

Once this is done look at the desktop of your dedicated server and you should see your expert advisor.  Right-click on it and copy it.  Then navigate over to C:\Program Files\BROKER NAME 4\experts folder.  Then paste the expert advisor into that folder.  Close out metatrader 4 and re-open it.  You will now have your expert advisor visible in the navigator window ready to be added to a chart.
